Court records name the plaintiffs as Thomas Fewtrell, who is understood to be also known as Paul, and advisory business International Financial Services (IFS).

There is currently no information about the pre-trial conference on Thursday.

However, two industry sources have told International Adviser that the case centres on a loan from either Old Mutual International or AAM Advisory to IFS.

Attempts to contact Fewtrell, IFS, and Old Mutual International in Singapore were unanswered.

An OMI spokesperson in the UK told International Adviser that the company was unable to comment as it was a legal matter.

IFS

Originally from Birmingham, Fewtrell founded IFS with his wife in Borneo in 1997. With its main office now in Singapore, the company also has a presence in Hong Kong and Qatar.

According to its website, IFS is licenced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Confederation of Insurance Brokers in Hong Kong as a financial adviser.

In Qatar, the company is regulated by the QFC Regulatory Authority.
