Hickman was previously global head of high net worth for Asia at Old Mutual International, which is part of Old Mutual Wealth, having joined the company in 2013 from HSBC, where he was head of distribution for high net worth business.
Prior to HSBC, Hickman worked for American International Assurance in Hong Kong, where he redesigned the high net worth brokerage channel.
“Hickman has considerable experience of the Asian market, which he will be able to draw upon to drive the Old Mutual International strategy forward,” said Marcel Bradshaw, sales director at Old Mutual International.
European appointment
Meanwhile Old Mutual Global Investors, Old Mutual’s asset management arm, has appointed Dominik Issler to head of distribution for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where the company has $3bn (£2bn) in assets under management.
Issler, who joined the company late last month, will head up Old Mutual Global Investors’ new Zurich-based business, which is aimed at building up the business across the three European nations that the company sees as the driver to future growth in Europe.
“We have ambitious plans to significantly grow our global footprint and we have been taking considerable steps to ensure that we meet these goals. The arrival of Dominik will greatly complement the momentum that we have achieved in Europe,” said Warren Tonkinson, OMGI’s head of global distribution.
Issler brings 15 years of sales and client service experience in asset management to Old Mutual Global Investors which he joined from Legg Mason owned Martin Currie Investment Management, where he was director and regional head based in Switzerland from 2010.
Prior to Martin Currie, Issler was chief executive Switzerland for ABN AMRO Asset Management and has also worked at Schroder Investment Management.
