Manulife appoints Singapore CEO, strengthens Hong Kong

Manulife Asset Management has extended its recent hiring spree in Asia by bringing over professionals from BNY Mellon and HSBC Global Asset Management to fill two positions.

Wendy Lim will be the new chief executive of Manulife AM (Singapore) and Bonnie Lam has been appointed as head of partnership development for the firm’s wealth and asset management arm in Hong Kong.

Lim will oversee the growth of Manulife AM’s wealth and asset management business. She will work with life insurance and distribution partners to develop the firm’s mutual fund, pension and investment-linked insurance solutions for the Singapore market.

She will report to Michael Dommermuth, Manulife AM’s Asian head of wealth and asset management.

Lim was most recently chief executive and managing director of business development and marketing for BNY Mellon Investment Management’s Asia Pacific division.

New Hong Kong role

Bonnie Lam takes on a newly-created role in which she will meet new and existing third-party distributors for the areas of equity, fixed income and asset allocation.

Prior to joining Manulife AM, Lam was working at HSBC Global Aset Managementin Hong Kong. Her career with HSBC GAM spans 15 years, including six years as regional head of wholesale business.

Lim and Lam appointments follow the recent appointments of Frederick Reidenbach as chief financial officer for the firm’s wealth and asset management arm and Grace Ho as chief marketing officer for the same business unit.
