Armando Simões Silva, new executive director, family offices, will initially be based in London though L&C said it may establish a physical presence in these new markets provided business meets growth targets.
Daniel Freedman, L&C founding partner and joint managing director, said Silva would support the company’s existing – primarily institutional – clients in southern Europe, as well as being tasked with driving new growth.
Silva, a 25-year veteran of wealth management, has most recently been servicing his own book of clients through a consultancy he established, Knightsbridge Portfolio Services, which operated from Lisbon, London and Geneva. He began his career with Barclays Private Bank in 1984.
New client drive
Silva will be making L&C’s investment and financial planning services available to his existing clients, as well as seeking new ones.
He said: “I am able to bring extensive knowledge of southern European markets to the table and am therefore ideally placed to leverage some of the Company’s existing relationships. At the same time, I am able to give my longstanding clients access to London & Capital’s open-architecture platform and its proven investment performance track record. I am very excited over the prospects for and complementary fit of our new venture.”
Freedman said the appointment of Silva was one of a number such arrangements “on the blocks” for 2010.
L&C, founded in 1986, offers asset management, investment and tax planning services. It focuses on capital preservation through a multi-asset investment style.
