Andrea Argenti will be based in Milan and report to Hubert Keller, the company’s chief executive.

The role will be effective from December 2014.

He joins from Blackrock where he has been head of retail Italy since 2006.

Before working at Blackrock, he was a sales manager at Société Générale Asset Management in Milan.

On the appointment, Keller said: “Italy is a key market in which we have built a strong range of solutions that appeal to our broad network of distributors.

“We are delighted that [Argenti] has agreed to join us and I’m confident he will help us build on this foundation.”

In July, the company appointed Henry Fischel-Bock as head of its domestic European private client business.

He joins the company from Barclays Wealth, where he led the UK and European wealth management business until earlier this month.

Fischel-Bock starts the role in January, and will report to managing partner Frederic Rochat.
