Turner will report to Aziz Nahas, limited partner of the Switzerland-based firm and CIO of its equities business.
The 1798 Fundamental Strategies Fund is seen as the flagship fund at Lombard Odier and was launched in 2007 using a combination of strategies.
It is constructed with bottom-up and top-down research from Nahas and a team of sector specialist portfolio managers, who discuss the portfolio allocation and underlying themes of the fund.
In the year to 30 September the fund posted losses of 4.25%, compared to losses of 8.68% from its benchmark, the S&P 500 Total Return.
Its annualised return from inception to date is 5.81%, against an annualised loss of 4.13% from the benchmark.
Turner brings over 15 years of healthcare investment experience to the role and is a trained doctor and oncologist, who has taught medical courses at universities.
Previously he has managed healthcare portfolios for First Manhattan Co and BoA Merrill Lynch.
