According to Asian Investor, the UK-based arm of insurer Legal & General is planning to open its new office in August, although licences remain pending for securities dealing and investment advisory from the Securities and Futures Commission.
A spokesperson for L&G told International Adviser that the company is hoping to open an Asian office this year but that it is currently in discussions with regulators and so cannot comment on speculation that the office will be in Hong Kong.
Asian Investor also reports, citing “multiple sources”, that L&G has hired Alan Flynn and Richard Surrency to serve as the responsible officers for the new business; however L&G said they were not in a position to comment on this either.
