Jupiter’s Bowmaker joins Tyndall IM as head of equity research

Tyndall Investment Management has appointed James Bowmaker (pictured) as the boutique’s head of equity research and deputy fund manager of the VT Tyndall Unconstrained UK Income fund.

Bowmaker has spent the past 15 years analysing UK equities in roles at Jupiter and Merian Global Investors.

The Tyndall Unconstrained UK Income fund has returned 51.4% over the past five years, ahead of the IA UK Equity Income sector average of 42.5%.

As deputy fund manager, Bowmaker will reunite with former Merian colleague Simon Murphy, who leads the strategy.

Alex Odd, Tyndall’s CEO, said: “Since Simon assumed responsibility for the Unconstrained UK Income fund in February 2020, he has demonstrated his unquestioned ability to manage a clearly differentiated UK equity income strategy, despite the challenges presented by the UK market.

“James will bring additional expertise to the fund’s management while playing an important role in refining the approach to equity research applied across the firm’s team of investment managers.”
