Two of the funds, Janus Japan and Janus Japan Emerging Opportunities, target Japan, while the Asia Frontier Markets and Asia Growth Drivers focuses on Asia ex-Japan.
The move is a sub-investment manager arrangement with DIAM International, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based DIAM Co., with DIAM International running the funds.
Janus Japan became active on 26 September and is managed by Yoshito Tsubota. It utilises an unconstrained flexible approach, investing across the market spectrum.
Makoto Matsueda has headed Janus Japan Emerging Opportunities since launch on 26 September, targeting small and mid-cap investments to provide investor exposure to growth companies.
The actively-managed Janus Asia Frontier Markets seeks openings in Asian frontier market, while Janus Asia Growth Drivers pursues opportunities in Asian growth sectors, particularly the consumer market. Both funds are managed by Toshihiko Takamoto, DIAM head of Asia equity.
The funds are available to UK investors under Janus’ JCF Ireland-domiciled UCITS range.
Augustus Cheh, president of Janus, said: “Today’s announcement is a continuation of our commitment and strategic focus of expanding our distribution capabilities and product offerings outside the US.”
