As head of strategic partnerships, Tothill will be responsible for building business relationships with intermediaries and other groups, both in the UK and internationally, through the firm’s offices in the UK and Dubai.
At Henderson, which Tothill joined from New Star as part of the group’s acquisition of the company in 2009, he was responsible for UK and international life and pension companies, platforms and wraps as well as the UK advisory market, where through his advisory team he was responsible for £2.5bn (€3.1bn, $4.2bn) of fund sales.
Tothill also worked as the international development manager for Prudential Intermediaries, working with both Prudential International Assurance in Dublin and the Prudential Intermediaries division in the UK, developing the distribution and product proposition of Prudential International.
Matt Brittain, a director at ARIA responsible for overseeing its international development said the company would be able to “draw on [Tothill’s] extensive institutional experience and broad network of industry contacts”.
Tothill added he will be working with intermediaries to help them to “continue to grow their businesses both domestically and internationally” by providing a “comprehensive, integrated, scalable, and technologically agile investment platform”.
The absolute return specialist launched a three-strong range of discretionary portfolio strategies earlier this year, which were developed in partnership with American macro-economic investment specialist Parala Capital.
Part of Tothill’s role will be promoting the fund range which includes the Macro Multi-Asset Cautious Income, Macro Multi-Asset Balanced and Macro- Multi-Asset Dynamic Growth strategies, to intermediaries.
