Clifford, principal at Baker Tilly Isle of Man, made a number of statements during his tenure in the chair on the subject of the evolving QROPS legislation and HMRC’s stance towards it, in the early days and more recently.

Kiernan’s brief as chairman is in line with the APSP’s objective to work with the Isle of Man Government and fellow professionals to create a better understanding of pensions on the island and to compete with other jurisdictions in the international pensions marketplace.

As deputy chairman, he was one of the original committee members who also comprised Clifford; honouree secretary Tim Boles, managing director of Equilibrium Pensions; Nigel Callin, managing director of Fedelta Pensions; Mike Batey, director life and pensions of IOMA Group; and Dougie Elliot, of Alexander Elliot.
