The Investment Association (IA) has named Namita Kain as its first ever head of private markets.
The association said the new role has been created in recognition of the increasing importance of private markets within the industry.
Kain joins from Octopus Investments, where she worked across private and public equities over four years.

She also spent several years at Invesco as a corporate strategy manager, where she worked closely with C-suite executives to shape strategy, market positioning and regulatory engagement.
Meanwhile, the IA has also announced the promotion of Hugo Gordon to the newly created role of head of capital markets.
He was previously senior policy adviser and has spent over 10 years at the IA. In the role, he will be responsible for overseeing the IA’s approach to policy issues on public equities and fixed income, FX, ETFs, and derivatives.
