Eric Bateman has been appointed managing director of Insynergy Investment Management International. He joins from Martin Currie, where was assistant director for international sales.

According to Insynergy, he has also held senior international roles with Franklin Templeton and Investec in an asset management career of more than 20 years.

Insynergy specialises in bringing what it describes as “world-class investment opportunities and investment teams not normally available to investors or their advisers” to new markets and investor bases.

Bateman will report to the company’s founder and chief executive Spike Hughes, ex of Skandia Investment management. He established the firm in 2008 with the backing of James Caan, entrepreneur and star of BBC TV series Dragons’ Den.

Insynergy’s fund range includes the Absolute China Fund, managed by Michael Lai, investment director for GAM’s Asian funds, and the Odey Fund, run by renowned absolute return-style investor Crispin Odey.

According to Insynergy, its Odey product is the only means by which retail investors can gain access to Odey’s long-only global equity and fixed income portfolio.
