Colton, who joined the GFSC in 1995, has been actively involved with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and the Offshore Group of Insurance Supervisors as part of her current role.

After becoming deputy director of insurance in 2001, Colton took over the top position in January 2007 when then director Alan Fleming announced his retirement.

“I have known Diane since the early days of the development of the protected cell company legislation and immediately came to respect her knowledge and ability," said Nik van Leuven, director general of the GFSC.

“The high quality of Guernsey’s regulation of insurance business and insurance intermediaries owes a very great deal to her and her development of Guernsey’s profile has proved invaluable, particularly in the international context."

Colton will leave at the end of the year and GFSC is currently in the process of recruiting a replacement.
