Axa said Bentley is tasked with ensuring the company “secures the best possible commercial terms for its investors ahead of the appointment of a permanent head later in the year”.
Bentley worked at Skandia, part of the Old Mutual group of companies, for 12 years before resigning in March this year. He has since set up investment consultancy firm gbi2.
Axa would not confirm whether the appointment was made directly or through gbi2 but Bentley claimed through his Twitter account that his new company had its "seventh client".
“I set up my consultancy business because I believe tomorrow’s financial services businesses need to differentiate themselves from their competitors,” said Bentley.
“They must identify profitable markets and customer needs within them, and subsequently create innovative and relevant product responses.
“AXA Wealth is a fully integrated investment management and distribution business. It is ambitious and refreshingly forward thinking, with a first-rate management team. I am delighted to undertake this project and to contribute to AXA Wealth’s future success.”
