Goldman Sachs Asset Management plans to expand its Asian footprint by launching seven investment funds for retail investors in Hong Kong, subject to receiving approval from the Securities and Futures Commission.

The funds, previously available only to private banking and institutional investors in Hong Kong, offer investors access into fundamental and quantitative equities as well as the fixed income space.

The seven funds are:
• Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets CORE Equity Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Europe CORE Equity Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Global CORE Equity Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets Corporate Bond Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets Debt Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Emerging Markets Equity Portfolio
• Goldman Sachs Global High Yield Portfolio

The CORE equity portfolios will be managed by GSAM’s quantitative investment strategies team.

Important market

Jessica Jones, head of GSAM’s retail client business in Asia-Pacific ex-Japan, said: “Hong Kong is an important market for GSAM and the launch marks our expansion into one of the largest mutual fund markets in Asia.

“The longer-term outlook for emerging markets remains positive, despite near-term uncertainties. In our view, the question is not when to invest in emerging markets, but how. We are offering products in both equities and fixed income to help clients address that question.”
