The position is a new one and was created in response to recent growth in the company’s Africa business which now requires “full time local sales management”, according to the company’s global head of sales, Stephen Conway, who previously handled the territory and to whom Macdonald now reports.
Macdonald has been working for Global Benefits for the past four years, managing sales of individual risk throughout Africa. This job has now been outsourced to The Synergy Partnership and its manager in Africa, Neil Baskerville, who is responsible for Global Benefit’s online Life Protector Plan business, marketed through the www.lifeprotectorplan.com website.
Prior to coming to Global Benefits, Macdonald, who is from Zimbabwe, worked for Portfolio Capital as an insurance manager for three years, and prior to that worked in the safari industry throughout Africa, managing hotels and lodges.
Macdonald, who starts her new job on Friday, will be based in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, and her title will be general manager of sales for Africa.
Global Benefits has been providing international employee benefits for more than 30 years. As reported [insert link here to our story], in February, it signed a deal with the deVere Group to provide the advisory group’s clients with its flagship product, the Life Protector Plan.
