Insurance giant Aegon has confirmed that the founder and honorary president of its Spanish operation has died.
Jesús Quintanal passed away on 31 March 2020.
He led the entry of the Aegon Group in Spain with the acquisition of Seguros Galicia in 1980.
Quintanal was chief executive of Aegon Spain from that time until 2011, and was later chairman of the board of directors and, since 2018, honorary chairman of the company.
Example of professionalism
Tomas Alfaro, chief executive of Aegon Spain, said: “Jesús created what is now Aegon in Spain, and laid the foundations for the values of customer service, commercial excellence and genuine concern for the people that cross our path.
“He was a great friend and he will always be an example and benchmark of professionalism, ethics and responsibility for us all.”
