Old Mutual Global Investors has appointed a former Schroders employee to work as an analyst for its Dublin-domiciled umbrella fund.

Liam Nunn joins from London-headquartered asset management firm Schroders where he worked as a pan- European equity analyst and a UK equity analyst.

Launched in November, the Old Mutual Europe (ex UK) Smaller Companies Fund aims to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in smaller companies in Europe, excluding the UK.

The fund, which is managed by Ian Ormiston who joined Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) in October last year, is a sub fund of the Old Mutual Global Investors Series.

The portfolio holds between 40 and 55 stocks, all of which have an equal weighting.

Ormiston said hiring Nunn reflects the asset manager’s commitment to growing the fund.

“We believe the diversity of the European small cap market offers great investment opportunities,” he said. “Nunn’s skills will help to ensure we focus on high quality, true small cap companies that can add real value to investors.”
