Eastspring names Yang as head of insurance

Eastspring Investments has poached FWD Group’s Andy Yang for a new role of head of insurance relationship.

The asset management arm of Prudential Corporation Asia said Yang will oversee all aspects of the firm’s relationship with Prudential’s insurance businesses across Asia.

Yang will work closely with the chief executives and leadership team of Prudential Corporation Asia’s insurance businesses across Asia “to strengthen the relationship with what is Eastspring’s largest institutional client,” the company said.

Prudential has insurance businesses in 13 markets namely Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

He will take on the role in June and report to Eastspring Investment’s deputy chief executive Michele Bang.

“The creation of this new senior role underlines the importance we place on our partnership with Prudential’s insurance businesses,” said Guy Strapp, CEO, Eastspring Investments.

At FWD Group, Yang was the group head of investments and asset liability management responsible for investment teams across four countries.

Previously, he spent several years in various role at ING Investment Management Asia Pacific and his stints include leading financial services organisations in Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand.

Eastspring manages about $105bn (£62.8bn, €77bn) in assets under management as of March-end. Eastspring Investments also manages the assets of life and pension products sold by Prudential Group.
