Butterfield Trust in the Cayman Islands has appointed Brian Balleine as senior vice president and head of a team of 26 trust specialists.

Balleine has more than 28 years’ experience in the international offshore financial services industry mainly in wealth planning, trust and fiduciary administration.A good part of this time, 18 years, was spent leading and managing trust businesses in Asia, the Channel Islands and the Caribbean working with ultra-high net worth families and advisers to establish complex wealth planning solutions.

Balleine said that he was looking forward to applying his knowledge “particularly in terms of Latin and North America.”

A further appointment at Butterfield sees Gina Nelson as the new head of business development in the Cayman jurisdiction. She qualified as a lawyer in the US and has more than 10 years’ experience in the area of trust and estate planning, with a focus on wealth services in North America.  

Executive vice president and head of group trust for Butterfield, Bob Moore, said the Cayman Islands office was a key part of the global trust business and the latest senior appointments reflect Butterfield’s commitment to building its skills and expertise in the international trust business line.
