The dollar-denominated fund will be managed by specialist emerging markets manager LGM Investments, a subsidiary of BMO GAM.

The fund management team comprises Irina Hunter, who currently manages other emerging market equity funds at the firm including the BMO LGM Global Emerging Markets Growth and Income Fund, with Claire Franklin being co-portfolio manager.

The pair intend to take advantage of the economic recovery in emerging markets by investing in smaller companies, either based in or deriving a significant amount of income and profit from some of the world’s fastest growing economies.

The fund may also invest a portion of its assets in frontier markets.

The LGM Global Emerging Markets Smaller Companies is registered for sale in the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

BMO Global Asset Management was formerly known as F&C Investments but was renamed following its acquisition by the Bank of Montreal three years ago.
