AILO said Panagiodis will stay closely involved with the organisation, remaining on the management committee as immediate past chair and assisting Lang. The appointment took place on 13 October at AILO’s AGM.
The post of deputy chairman, previously filled by John Beaney, has been taken by Bob Pain, sales director at Friends Provident International. Meanwhile, Beaney, who recently retired from Skandia, has been appointed as legal and regulatory executive and will support AILO on a part-time basis to address EU and UK issues for its membership.
In addition, Graham Beevers of IntegraLife International has been elected to replace Zurich International Life’s Roger Smith as treasurer, while Tim Davies of HSBC Life (Europe), has been re-appointed as members’ representative.
Alan Morgan-Moodie remains AILO’s chief executive and Christine Hall will continue as AILO’s marketing executive.
Lang said “I am delighted to be taking over the chairmanship of AILO at such an important time. Regulatory developments in the EU and the UK mean that AILO has plenty to focus on at the moment and I expect this to continue for the foreseeable future.
“I am grateful to Rachel for all her hard work as chairman of the association and to those members of the management committee who support AILO in their spare time. The addition of John Beaney to the secretariat is very timely and will ensure AILO remains at the forefront of EU and UK discussions that impact its members.”
