Aegon to set up international division

To bring activities in Southern and Eastern Europe and Asia under Aegon International

Dutch life insurance firm Aegon has set out plans to plans to change the way the group in organised.

This will see it create Aegon International on 1 January 2020.

The division will incorporate the Southern and Eastern European and Asian businesses.

The move aims to boost the insurer’s growth and develop cross-border activities, Aegon said.

It will see Marco Keim, current head of continental Europe, lead the international division.

Improve performance

But the reorganisation will also see some losses with Andrew Byrne, chief executive of Aegon Asia, stepping down as of 1 January 2020.

“Under Andrew’s leadership over the last three years, we have successfully restructured our Asian business and improved its financial performance,” group chief executive Alex Wynaendts said.

“Our Asian business is now ready for a new stage of growth.”
