Watterson brings over 25 years’ experience in operations; 20 of which have been spent in the financial services sector and 19 of those with Abacus.

He joined the fiduciary and fund services provider in 1996 when it was part of Coopers & Lybrand Isle of Man.

In April 2005 he was promoted to operations director and joined the boards of Abacus Trust Company and Abacus Financial Services the following year.

With plans to consolidate its management teams, the group’s responsibilities and resources, Watterson says the Malta office is in its best possible position to promote its service offering.

Abacus also has a presence in the Isle of Man.

Chairman of the Abacus group, Chris Talavera, said: “We know that [Paul] will be invaluable to our ongoing strategies to drive the business forward as well as our continued efforts to maintain our position as a leader in our field, a large part of which lies in the development of our Malta office and its service propositions.”
