Lombard Odier nabs a former Nomura heavy-hitter as investment firm Janus makes an addition to its multi-asset team. Axa IM appointed a new global head of sales while Tilney names a new regional hire.

Lombard Odier

Lombard Odier have nabbed a former Nomura economist to help engage investors in French-speaking markets in a newly-created role.

Charles St-Arnaud, formerly a strategist and economist at Nomura, will be the investment manager’s first senior investment strategist based in London, tasked with a specific focus on investor engagement on the continent.

He will report to Salman Ahmed, chief investment strategist, to help develop the firm’s strategy.

St-Arnaud spent seven years at Nomura, based in London and New York. Prior to this he was a senior economist with the Department of Finance Canada and held roles at Morgan Stanley and the Bank of Canada. He holds an MSc in economics from L’Université du Québec à Montréal.

Janus Henderson

Dean Cheeseman will join the multi-asset team as a fund manager at Janus Henderson Investors it has been announced.

Formerly a lead portfolio manager running a $5.8bn strategy at Mercer, Cheeseman will join the Janus Henderson team based in London.

He has 20 years’ experience and previously held roles at F&C Asset Management and Morgan Stanley.

He will report to head of multi-asset Paul O’Connor.

The new hire follows the recent appointment of Nick Harper as portfolio manager and asset allocation specialist.

Chris Forgan, fund manager in the team, will be leaving the business at the start of August.

Axa IM

Axa Investment Managers has appointed Francisco Arcilla as the new global head of sales.

Arcilla will be responsible for the coordination of all local and regional sales and client services teams ensuring consistency of messaging and sales efforts and the successful execution of Axa IM’s global and local business development strategies. He will also join Axa IM’s Management Board.

Arcilla’s previous responsibilities as chief executive of Japan will be fulfilled by Masahiro Shuto who is appointed as Japan chief executive and head of client group in Japan, effective 1 July 2017.

Tilney

UK investment management group Tilney has named Jim Clay as its new business development director covering the North East and Yorkshire.

Clay joins from Heartwood, a discretionary fund manager, where he was client director for intermediaries. There he was responsible for developing and supporting relationships with financial planning firms. He has also held positions at Pershing, CoFunds and SEI Investments.

At Tilney, Clay will work with a number of financial planning and advice as well as working with solicitors, accountants, the trustee community, US professionals and investment consultants.

Principal Global Investors

Principal Global Investors has named Celestine Khoo as its managing director and head of Asia (ex-Japan). She has been the firm’s head of Southeast Asia since 2015 and will remain responsible for the office in Singapore.

In her new role, she assumes responsibility for the Hong Kong and Beijing offices. The role is newly created as Kirk West, head of international offices, covered all of Principal Global Investors’ offices outside the US.
