Expected to start in the newly created role in mid-August, Cazier is currently managing director, distribution, at Henderson Global Investors which he joined from New Star where he was joint managing director of the retail investment business which he helped to found.

The job brief covers both Skandia and Old Mutual Global Investors and involves Cazier reporting to Steven Levin, global distribution head at Old Mutual Wealth.

As one of the senior distribution team, Cazier will look at business development and growth opportunities “organic or through joint ventures, mergers or acquisitions”, the company said.

Old Mutual added that recent expansion through various business developments has driven the need for this appointment including the acquisition of Intrinsic, the launch of WealthSelect and an announcement today about the acquisition of Henderson’s 50% stake in the Intrinsic Cirilium Investment Company.

The Cirilium proposition consists of five multi-manager portfolios and four passive portfolios, each tailored to a different risk / reward investment profile, and is the core investment proposition for Intrinsic’s restricted financial advisers in the UK.

In September 2012, Old Mutual announced plans to consolidate all its Skandia operations into a single wealth management business called Old Mutual Wealth.
