BlackRock has appointed Andrew MacKenzie as head of iShares Middle East and Africa a new role for the company.

MacKenzie joins the company from UBS where he has worked since 1983, most recently as global head of products, Central Banks and sovereign wealth funds.

BlackRock said in the new position, MacKenzie will focus on driving sales for iShares across the Middle East and Africa, supporting existing client relationships in the official institutions arena as well as researching and prospecting new clients.

He will report to Leen Meijaard, head of EMEA iShares sales at BlackRock, with additional reporting lines to Nick Anderson, head of MEA at BlackRock and Terry Keeley, h ead of BlackRock’s Global official institutions group.
