He will have responsibility for building the Latin America strategy and a coverage model for IPB EMEA, focusing on each of the Latin America regions. This will include client acquisition, hiring bankers to service the Latin American market and working across all parts of Barclays Wealth to develop a full product offering that is tailored to high and ultra high net worth Latin American clients.

Prior to joining Barclays Wealth, Roiz spent two years as head of Latin America at the Royal Bank of Canada (Suisse) SA and was the managing director in charge of Brazil at Citi Private Bank (Suisse) SA from 2002 to 2009.

Ramsey said the appointment fell into Barclays Wealth’s overall strategy to boost business opportunities within the region. “This appointment is a key hire in our build up of the Barclays Wealth footprint in this region, and further demonstrates our commitment to accelerating the development of new business in this market segment and desire to establish an industry-leading wealth management business in Latin America.”
