The police are investigating the exact circumstances of his death, Zurich said in a statement, adding that “out of consideration for the family no further details have been disclosed”.
Bloomberg reported this morning that officials had found “no indications of third-party involvement in the death”.
Wauthier had worked for Zurich since 1996, and had been named Group CFO in 2011.
Vibhu Sharma, Zurich’s group controller, will assume Wauthier’s duties pending the naming of a successor.
