Simpson is to relocate to Australia, leaving the business, and FPI said in a statement that it is currently in the process of recruiting his replacement.

FPI chief executive Adrian Emery said: “In a move to boost Aviva Asia growth in the region, Charles Barrows left FPI in August and moved across to the role of vice president director of Astra Aviva Life in Indonesia.

“As the search for a long-term successor for Charles continues, I am pleased to announce an interim arrangement for the FPI Hong Kong’s leadership team. Current Aviva Hong Kong chief executive Margaret Chiu is acting as managing director for FPI Hong Kong (subject to regulatory approval) and will oversee our Hong Kong business.”

Patrick Wei, Aviva Asia chief distribution officer, has taken up the additional position of general manager for FPI Hong Kong, subject to work permit approval, he added.

Wei, who will relocate from Singapore to Hong Kong for the interim period, will assist Chiu in managing the overall running of the FPI Hong Kong office.
