Starting on 1 October, Ellis will be responsible for leading RBC’s British Isles Investments team, while also joining its British Isles and Caribbean Operating Committee. This follows the departure of Tracy Maeter earlier this year to JPM Morgan.

Ellis will oversee the implementation and delivery of wealth management investment solutions, working in partnership with the British Isles-based distribution and trust teams. He will be based in London and report to Stuart Rutledge, CEO, RBC Wealth Management – British Isles and Caribbean.

At HSBC, Ellis was managing director and head of the Private Bank Investment Group – UK and Channel Islands, managing £12bn of client assets across UK and international booking centres. Prior to this he served as head of structured products.

Rutledge said: “Our ability to deliver an integrated offering to high net worth and ultra high net worth clients is heavily reliant on the strength of our Investments platform. Dan is a very experienced investment professional, and is perfectly placed to help execute our growth strategy.”
