Luis, formerly co-head of global high yield at F&C Asset Management, will support high-yield fund manager, Andrew Lake, on the global high yield bonds division managed out of the company’s London office.

Luis has worked as a fixed income investment manager for more than 15 years and has experience of US high yield and European investment grade markets, as well as emerging markets.

The Mirabaud Global High Yield Bonds Fund was launched in February as a sub fund of the Ucits compliant Mirabaud Luxembourg Sicav. The fund launched with seeded assets in excess of US$125m and now stands at close to US$200m. In addition to the Mirabaud Global High Yield Bonds Fund, the team manages mandates for institutional clients.

In the past 18 months Mirabaud has focused on expanding its asset management team, in particular launching its Global Emerging Markets Equity Fund, European Convertible Bonds Fund, as well as the Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund in the last year.

Lake, who joined Mirabund from Aviva Investors in January, said Luis’ appointment would enhance the research capability of the global high yield bonds team.

He added: “Our approach aims to seek out and exploit relative value opportunities across markets, sectors and individual companies. All of this is encompassed by a thorough analysis and on-going monitoring of risk by various high yield specialists across Mirabaud.”
