US in the news: The Mather Group makes double swoop

The Mather Group

The wealth management firm has bought Maryland-based registered investment adviser (RIA) firm Seiffert for an undisclosed sum.

Founder Perry Seiffert, co-owner Alexia Larson, and portfolio administrator Kathy O’Brien have joined TMG as part of the transaction.

In other news, The Mather Group has also acquired Houston-based RIA firm Semita Asset Management.

Semita chief executive and chief investment officer Michael Meagher and director of financial planning Justin Reede have both joined TMG as part of the acquisition.

Mariner Wealth Advisors

The wealth firm has acquired Michigan-based Heber Fuger Wendin Investment Advisors (HFW) for an undisclosed sum.

HFW has origins dating back to 1934. It is led by president and chief executive Dave Barnes.

Mercer Global Advisors

The RIA firm has acquired Delaware wealth manager Mallard Advisors for an undisclosed sum.

Mallard was founded by William Starnes. Starnes and his team will be joining Mercer Advisors.

Hub International

The global insurance brokerage and financial services firm has acquired the assets of WealthPlan Advisors for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered in Arizona, the WealthPlan Advisors team will join the Hub southwest region.

People moves

Global X ETFs

The New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) has hired Scott Helfstein as head of thematic solutions.

Helfstein most recently served as the executive director of thematic investing for ETF issuer ProShares.

UBS Private Wealth Management

Stephen McCashin has rejoined the firm as a private wealth adviser and managing director in the west coast market.

Prior to re-joining UBS, he served as a regional director at JP Morgan Wealth Management, where he oversaw the San Francisco and Seattle offices.

JP Morgan Private Bank

The bank has hired a three-person team in Chicago.

With over five decades of combined experience, Amy Welzer, Jennifer Jones and Steven Hoffmann joined the firm from Citi Private Bank.

Additionally, Jaime Freeman joined as a managing director, market team lead in Winnetka.

She joins the firm from BMO Wealth Management, where she was a managing director.

First Republic Bank

The private bank and wealth management company has promoted Susie Cranston to executive vice president and chief operating officer.

She is currently senior executive vice president of First Republic Private Wealth Management.

The firm has also hired Theresa Rutledge and Anthony Custodio in Palo Alto.

Rutledge and Custodio were each named managing director and wealth manager.

Before joining First Republic, they were both senior vice presidents and wealth advisers at Merrill Private Wealth Management.

Coastal Bridge Advisors

The RIA firm has hired Deirdre Childs as director of marketing.

Over her 17-year marketing and business development career, Childs has served in a variety of in-house senior roles and worked as a consultant to support global businesses and major brands in the expansion of their marketing and communications programs, including work with Dove, Broadridge, Patagonia and Pepsi.

Bordeaux Wealth Advisors

The firm has bolstered its operations in Seattle and Silicon Valley with a number of appointments.

Associate wealth advisers Miles Amodeo, Justin Dime, and Yanxiao “Chloe” Li, client service associate John Tashjian and business development officer Sean van der Wal have all joined the company.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management

Adam Lieb has joined the wealth manager as senior client strategist for global family office.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Lieb was at Fidelity Family Office Services for more than 13 years and most recently served as vice president.
