PEOPLE MOVES: Prudential, JP Morgan, Old Mutual Wealth…

We’re now in the second month of the year and corporate musical chairs doesn’t appear to be slowing. In fact, opening International Adviser’s mailbox each morning to a slew of appointments, promotions, and departures is beginning to feel a bit like Groundhog Day.

PEOPLE MOVES: KPMG, Investors Trust, Carrick

Prudential

Michael McLintock has decided to retire as chief executive of M&G Investments and as an executive director of Prudential. Subject to regulatory approval, he will be succeeded later this year by Anne Richards.

Richards will join Prudential from Aberdeen Asset Management where she is chief investment officer and responsible for operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

She has held senior roles at JP Morgan Investment Management, Mercury Asset Management and Edinburgh Fund Managers, which was acquired by Aberdeen Asset Management in 2003.

JP Morgan Private Bank

JP Morgan Private Bank has appointed Diana Robinson head of equities for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Based in London, Robinson will be responsible for the development of timely investment ideas and global equity solutions, as well as managing relationships with high- and ultra-high-net-worth clients throughout the EMEA region.

She joins JP Morgan from RG Associates, a financial services consulting and coaching business which she set up and ran from 2009. Prior to this, she was part of the European and the US equities management teams at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Old Mutual Wealth

OMW chief information officer Jeremy Charles and customer director Carlton Hood are stepping down from their roles. Charles’s retirement, which will take place in the first half of the year, was agreed when he joined the firm in 2012.

He will be replaced by chief information officer Paul Penney.

Hood’s role is to be made redundant but he is said to be exploring other opportunities within the wider group.

Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI), part of OMW, has appointed Sharon Power to the role of head of client services. She started at OMGI on 1 February 2016 and will report to OMGI managing director Warren Tonkinson.

Power has over 13 years’ experience in client services roles and joins OMGI from Wellington Management International Limited, where she worked as business manager (EMEA).

Deutsche Bank

Thomas Haag has been named general manager of Deutsche Bank Abu Dhabi branch, effective immediately. Based in Abu Dhabi, he will join the bank’s UAE executive committee.

As general manager Haag will have oversight over all activities regulated by the UAE Central Bank. He will work closely with divisional and infrastructure business heads to ensure strict compliance with local regulatory requirements.

PIMCO

Global investment management firm PIMCO has named executive vice president and portfolio manager David Hammer as co-head of the firm’s municipal bond portfolio management team.

He replaces Joe Deane, the desk’s leader for five years, who plans to retire in May after 45 years in the municipal bond market.

Schroders

Schroders has hired Stefan Krause for the role of portfolio manager in its convertible bond team based in Zurich. Krause will work alongside Peter Reinmuth as co-manager of the Schroder ISF global conservative convertible bond.

He joins Schroders from Man Investments (CH) AG where he was responsible for managing the Man convertibles Europe fund. Prior to joining Man in 2012, Krause spent two years with Warburg Invest in Hamburg as a portfolio manager for European convertibles and almost five years with UBS in Zurich.

Brooklands/IVCM

After five-and-a-half years at Brooklands (rebranded as IVCM in October 2015), Mark Sanderson has amicably stepped down from the business. He joined the company in August 2010 and had been chief operating officer for the past three-and-a-half years at the time of his departure.

Sanderson previously worked as a consultant for Barnett Waddingham and Aon.

Charles Stanley

Wealth manager Charles Stanley announced it has appointed Jeremy Batstone-Carr to the new role of chief global economist to further develop its international economic research capacity.

He will work closely with John Redwood, the firm’s chief global strategist to create coordinated thematic regional and sectoral analyses and viewpoints.

Batstone-Carr has over 30 years of experience in the industry, joining Charles Stanley in 2004. Prior to this he was head of research at NatWest Stockbrokers and Fyshe Group and was also responsible for helping build a research department at Coutts.

ESMA

The board of supervisors of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has appointed Anneli Tuominen as vice chair. Tuominen, who is director-general of the Finnish Finansivalvonta (FIN-FSA) will serve a two-and-a-half year term, effective immediately.

FIN-FSA is an integrated authority responsible for banking, insurance, securities, and macro-prudential supervision. Tuominen has served as director-general since 2007, having joined FIN-FSA in 1996.

Allianz

John Myler has been appointed chief general manager market management of Allianz Australia, effective 1 February 2016.

He has nearly 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, having most recently served as chief executive of Allianz Global Assistance Australia.
