PEOPLE MOVES: Citi, HSBC, REYL Intesa Sanpaolo

Bank names global head of wealth, while rival bolsters family office operation

Citi 

Angel Ng has been promoted to head of global wealth management for Apac at the banking giant.

She was previously chief executive for Hong Kong and Macau, and has been at the firm since 1998.

Ng takes over from co-heads Fabio Fontainha and Steven Lo, who have been promoted to head of Citigold and Citigold Private Client, and head of Citi Private Bank, respectively.

HSBC Private Banking

The private banking arm of HSBC has hired Robert Kaliff to head its family office division to expand its ultra-high net worth client base.

He joins from JP Morgan Private Bank, where he worked as head of origination.

REYL Intesa Sanpaolo

The Swiss banking group has promoted Nicolas Besson to chief investment officer.

He will be based in Geneva and take on responsibility for the supervision of the firm’s investment activities across all asset classes.

Besson joined the firm in 2015 as head of fixed income and senior portfolio manager and then took on the role of deputy chief investment officer.

UBP

The private bank has named Roger Meier as head of sales and client trading for Asia.

He is based in Singapore and will work alongside the firm’s wealth management and investment services divisions.

Meier joins from Julius Baer, where he led the Apac structured products advisory and sales teams since 2010.

Julius Baer

Alberto Maria Martinelli has relocated to Bank Julius Baer in Switzerland after 17 years in the Lion City.

He was previously Singapore team head of private banking international.

Martinelli has been tasked with building a team in Lugano focusing on business acquisition and the development of the international client book.

Tabula Investment Management

The European ETF provider has recruited Silvia Della Foglia to bolster its Italian coverage team.

She was previously at Citigroup in London, where she worked as a director for 15 years.

Rathbone Greenbank Investments

The sustainable arm of Rathbones Investment Management has appointed Marian Woodward as an impact manager, based in London.

She will be responsible for leading the bank’s impact investment offering.

Woodward joins from Fidelity International, where she worked as an investment analyst.

Quilter Cheviot Europe

The Irish subsidiary of Quilter Cheviot has made three hires to boost its European offering.

William McDonald joins as an investment manager, while Patrick Good and Tom O’Dea join the firm as financial planners.

McDonald was previously at Appian Asset Management, whereas Good was at Kennelly Tax Advisers and O’Dea at PwC.
