UK advice firm names PFS president as chief growth officer, while wealth manager makes c-suite change

Cooper Parry Wealth

The UK advice firm has hired Sarah Lord as chief growth officer.

Lord is currently president of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and was previously chief client officer at Succession Wealth.

WH Ireland

The wealth management group has named Simon Jackson as chief financial officer and an executive director of the company.

He will join the company with effect from 11 October 2021.

Jackson was finance director of Saunderson House from January 2019 until March 2021, prior to its acquisition by Rathbone Brothers.

He was previously group finance director of Brooks Macdonald for around 18 years.

The Openwork Partnership

The financial advice and investment network has appointed Frank Meere as chief operating officer.

Most recently, he was head of data and analytics at NatWest and previously worked at ABN Amro in the UK, the Netherlands and Poland.

RBC Wealth Management

The wealth manager has named Fenny Chan and Angela Chow as directors in Hong Kong.

They will focus on working with families in greater China who have international ties with Canada, the US or Britain as a result of business interests, employment, property or education.

Chan joins RBC after 25 years in senior client roles at HSBC, where she provided wealth solutions across banking, investment advisory and wealth planning.

Chow previously worked at Credit Suisse, where she was vice president and relationship manager.

Pension Advice Specialists

The firm has promoted Craig Stokes to director.

Stokes has been at the firm for nearly four years and was previously head of advice.

He was previously senior pension transfer specialist at Prudential Financial Planning.

Continuum

The UK financial planning business has hired three advisers from Quilter Financial Planning, Spence & Spence and Tilney.

It now has 57 advisers based across the country.

Lisa Anderson joined the firm from Tilney to strengthen Continuum’s presence in Somerset. Steven Chisholm joined Continuum in Northamptonshire from Quilter Financial Planning to expand the firm’s presence in the east Midlands.

Ryan Bunyan joined the firm from Edinburgh-based Spence & Spence and expands Continuum’s footprint in Scotland.

Axa Investment Managers

Mark Hargraves, currently global head of Axa IM Framlington Equities, has become global head of Axa IM Equity, a newly created platform that will combine the firm’s fundamental and quantitative equity capabilities, effective 1 January 2022.

Based in London, Hargraves will retain his current portfolio management responsibilities.

As part of the set up, Axa IM’s quantitative capabilities will be called Equity QI and the Framlington name will be phased out.

Under the leadership of Hans Stoter, Axa IM Core Investments will therefore be comprised of three platforms:

  • Axa IM Equity (including Equity QI) headed by Mark Hargraves,
  • Axa IM Fixed Income headed by Marion Le Morhedec,
  • Axa IM Multi-Asset headed by Serge Pizem.

The Equity QI team will continue to be led by Paul Flavier, currently global head of Axa IM Rosenberg Equities.

As global head of Axa IM Equity QI, Flavier will report to Hargraves from 1 January 2022.

IFA Acquisitions

The adviser consultancy firm has hired Dawn Walker-Bennett as senior acquisitions consultant.

She joins from AFH Wealth Management, where she was head of business development.

Brewin Dolphin

The wealth manager has named Kam Bagga as a wealth director to its 1762 team in London.

He was most recently at Henley Investment Management, where he was director with a particular focus on global private and institutional clients.

Marlborough

Sheldon MacDonald has been named as chief investment officer of multi-asset and Nathan Sweeney has been appointed as deputy chief investment officer of multi-asset.

MacDonald was previously at Architas, where he was deputy chief investment officer and prior to that as a senior investment manager. He moved over to Liontrust as deputy head of multi-asset in November 2020 when Liontrust bought Architas’s UK multi-asset business.

Sweeney spent over 10 years as a senior investment manager at Architas. Following the acquisition, he moved over to Liontrust in November 2020 as a senior investment manager running the Liontrust Multi-Asset Active range.

Artorius

The independently owned wealth advisory firm has named Mili Pavitt as head of marketing and communications.

Pavitt previously worked at UBS Global Asset Management and UBS Wealth Management.

Janus Henderson Investors

The investment firm has appointed Kyle Griffith Barwell as associate director of UK retail sales.

He was most recently a business development manager for Aegon Asset Management.

BNY Mellon Investment Management

The asset manager has named Kristina Church as head of responsible strategy.

Church joins from Lombard Odier Investment Managers, where she was most recently head of sustainable solutions and earlier, senior investment strategist and deputy head of sustainability.

Winckworth Sherwood

The UK law firm has recruited James Mabey as senior associate within the private client team.

He was previously private client and trust associate at Conyers in Bermuda.
