US in the news: CI Financial buys Columbus-based wealth firm

CI Financial

The financial services company has acquired Budros, Ruhlin & Roe, a Columbus-based wealth management firm, for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1979, Budros, Ruhlin & Roe offers investment management and financial planning services.

This transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The Colony Group

The wealth management firm has agreed to buy Legacy Wealth Partners for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is expected to close later in the year.

Legacy Wealth Partners, located in Calabasas, California, was founded in 2001 by Brad Levin.

Wealth Enhancement Group

The independent wealth management firm will buy Florida-based registered investment adviser (RIA) firm Investor Solutions.

Investor Solutions includes six financial advisers and was established in 1993 by chief executive Frank Armstrong.

The transaction is Wealth Enhancement Group’s 10th acquisition in 2021.

The deal is expected to close in October 2021. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Savant Wealth Management

The Rockford wealth firm has acquired Treybourne Wealth Planners, an Indiana-based RIA firm.

Treybourne Wealth Planners has an office in Greenwood, Indiana, and offers wealth management, investment management, and retirement and tax planning services throughout Indiana and across multiple states.

Founding principal Martin Armbruster and principal Stephanie Willison will join Savant’s group of member owners.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

People moves

Stratos Wealth Holdings

The wealth firm has appointed Kenneth Jones as managing director of business development for Texas and Oklahoma.

Jones joins Stratos after 30 years in the financial services industry.

Ameriprise Financial

The firm has added two financial advisers to its branch operation.

Marc Gendell has joined from UBS Financial Services in Atlanta as a financial adviser.

Chris Thompson has joined from Wells Fargo in Jacksonville, Florida as a financial adviser and associate branch manager.

Fiduciary Trust International

The global wealth manager and wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton has named David Oh as trust counsel serving clients in northern California.

Oh has joined Fiduciary Trust International from Charles Schwab & Co, where he served as a director of tax, trusts and estates.

Bordeaux Wealth Advisors

The boutique investment advisory and wealth management firm has hired Megan Mills as wealth adviser, and Amy Ellisor as director of marketing.

Mills previously held roles as a senior trust adviser at Northern Trust and US Trust.

Before joining Bordeaux, Ellisor led a marketing team at a Seattle accounting firm.

Crestwood Advisors

The Boston-based wealth firm has bolstered its Connecticut operation with the hires of Chris Auten and Charlie Tricomi Jr.

Auten joins as a portfolio manager, while Tricomi Jr joins as a director and portfolio manager.

JFS Wealth Advisors

The RIA firm has promoted Thomas Wilson as a partner.

He joined JFS in 2014 as senior lead adviser.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management

Joe Swiderski has joined the firm as senior director and wealth manager.

He joins BNY Mellon Wealth Management from Huntington National Bank, where he most recently served as senior portfolio manager and previously held the position of senior client adviser.

Amundi US

Jonathan Duensing has been named senior managing director and head of fixed income for the US.

He has been a senior member of the US investment team for 25 years, originally joining Smith Breeden Associates (now Amundi US) in 1996.

Most recently, he served as managing director, director of investment grade corporates, and portfolio manager, a role he held since 2017.

Insigneo

The Miami-based RIA firm has hired father and son team Jeffrey Kline Sr and Jeffrey Kline II from Wells Fargo, as well as Juan González from Kovack International.

They have joined forces to create The Bay Wealth Group at Insigneo.

EP Wealth Advisors

The independent registered investment adviser firm has added Ryan Parker to the executive team as chief growth officer, a newly created role.

Before joining EP Wealth, Parker was president and chief executive of wealth management for Citizens Bank.
