PEOPLE MOVES: JP Morgan AM, AJ Bell, MFSA

Asset manager names Australia and New Zealand CEO, as investment platform appoints managing director

JP Morgan Asset Management

The asset manager has promoted Andrew Creber as Australia and New Zealand chief executive.

He was most recently based in Singapore for JP Morgan AM, where he served as Asia Pacific deputy chief administrative officer.

Creber will be based in Sydney and replaces Rachel Farrell, who left the firm in July.

AJ Bell

Billy Mackay has been appointed managing director of the investment platform AJ Bell Investcentre.

He joined AJ Bell in 2008 as marketing director and will take over from Fergus Lyons, current managing director of AJ Bell Investcentre, on 1 October 2021.

Lyons will then move into an advisory role to oversee and support the development of Touch by AJ Bell and its future growth in the adviser market.

Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA)

Joseph Gavin has been named as chief executive of Maltese regulator. He will be formally taking on the role as of September 2021.

He was more recently partner and head of financial services at Irish law firm ByrneWallace.

Tenet Group

The UK financial adviser support network has appointed Martin Tyler as chief financial officer.

He joins from The Gelert Group of Companies, where he was chief financial officer since 2019.

Charles Stanley

The wealth manager has named Gavin Wiggans as business development director for the north of England.

Wiggans joins Charles Stanley from Brown Shipley, where he was business development director.

Aberdeen Standard Investments

The firm has appointed David Hanzl as head of wholesale for Asia Pacific.

Hanzl joins ASI from UBS Asset Management, where he was head of regional operating office for Asia Pacific since 2014, as well as global wholesale business manager from 2016 to 2019.

IDAD

The structured solution provider has bolstered its UK team with the hire of Tom Ward, who will become UK head of strategic partnerships.

He was most recently sales and relationship manager of nationals, networks and Platforms for Investec Wealth and previously Investec Bank.

Robeco

The asset manager has hired four members to its sustainable investment research team. Rachel Whittaker will join as head of the team on 1 September 2021, and the team will be further strengthened by researchers Giulia Schettino, Ally Wong, and Federico Silvano.

Whittaker, who will be based in Zurich, joins Robeco from UBS where she was an SI strategist in the chief investment officer office of the global wealth management arm.

Schettino and Wong also join from UBS, while Silvano comes from Allianz Global Investors.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

The UK lifeboat scheme has appointed Sabah Carter to its executive team as chief data, intelligence and technology officer.

Carter was formerly senior vice president and chief information officer at News Corp.
