Life and pensions consolidator names CEO, as Aussie firm makes changes to wealth management arm

Chesnara

The life and pensions company has named Steve Murray as group chief executive.

He leaves his role as chief commercial officer at Royal London.

Murray replaces John Dean who is stepping down as group chief executive to retire at the end of the year.

AMP

The Australian firm makes changes to its wealth management operation.

Matt Lawler is managing director of advice and was previously chief executive of wealth management of Yellow Brick Road.

Anna Shelley is appointed chief investment officer and having spent over 13 years with Jana, as well as Perpetual Investments.

She is replacing Debbie Alliston, who is retiring from executive positions and will finish on 31 July after 10 years of service.

Jason Sommer will director of transformation and investments and joins from Sunsuper, where he is currently chief financial officer.

Ilaine Anderson and Sean O’Malley become director of super and retirement and managing director of AMP Bank, respectively.

Edwina Maloney takes on the newly created role of director of platforms and joins from AMP Capital, where she is currently global head of product.

Square Mile

The investment consulting and research firm has named Katy Miles as head of marketing.

She joins Square Mile from Janus Henderson, where she was senior marketing manager.

MSCI

The investment sector support firm has appointed Tia Counts as chief diversity officer.

Counts was global head of diversity and inclusion for JP Morgan’s asset and wealth management business, the global corporate and investment bank and Emea head of advancing black pathways.

Jupiter

The fund manager has made internal appointments within the Jupiter Independent Funds “Merlin” team.

David Lewis is promoted to co-head of strategy of independent funds, working closely alongside long-standing team head John Chatfeild-Roberts.

Algy Smith-Maxwell will take on the role of research director of independent funds, while Amanda Sillars is appointed ESG director of independent funds.

George Fox is promoted to assistant fund manager of independent funds.

Irwin Mitchell

The law firm has promoted two partners and 13 associates in its private wealth division.

The partners and associates cover a range of legal services including family law, will disputes and tax, trusts and estates, across both the north and southern offices.

Hayley Trim and Erin Sawyer become family law partners in the firm’s Bristol office.

Marie Kilgallen, Ben Xu, Kate Caldwell and Sarah Paton were all promoted to senior associate in its family law and tax, trusts and estates team.

Emma Bates, Lucy Todd, Tara Smith and Alexandra Goldrein become associates of family law team.

Michelle Chapman is now an associate in the Will, trust and estate disputes team, as Jessica Fazzone and Robert Grove-Smith were promoted to associate in the tax, trusts and estates team.

The Pensions Regulator (TPR)

Sarah Smart has been named as permanent chair of regulatory body.

She has been serving as the interim chair since 1 April 2021.

Wealthify

The online investment service has hired Akshaya Bhargava as a non-executive director. Bhargava was global chief executive of the wealth and investments at Barclays.

Michelle McGrade also joins Wealthify’s Investment Committee. McGrade was previously chief investment officer at Virgin Money and TD Direct Investing.
