Investment firm hires CEO, as Dubai regulator names chairman

Natixis Investment Managers

Tim Ryan has been named as chief executive of the investment firm as well as a member of the Natixis senior management committee in charge of asset and wealth management.

He will succeed Jean Raby who has decided to pursue another professional opportunity.

Ryan was previously at Generali, where he was group chief investment officer for insurance assets and global chief executive of asset and wealth management.

Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA)

The Dubai regulator has named Fadel Al Ali as chairman.

He replaces Saeb Eigner who will leave the post on 1 June 2021 after 17 years at the DFSA.

Al Ali was previously deputy chief executive and head of corporate and investment banking at First Abu Dhabi Bank.

M&G

Mike Evans has stood down as the chair of M&G to concentrate on his health.

Evans took a temporary leave of absence from his duties in January due to a “stress-related illness”. But on 1 April he took the decision to relinquish his post.

He joined M&G in October 2018, a year before its demerger from insurer Prudential was complete.

M&G said it would immediately search for his replacement with Fiona Clutterbuck, who took over as interim chair during Evans’ absence, leading the process.

VG

The financial services provider has promoted James Amos and Chris Hamon to assistant managers.

Amos joined VG as a senior trust officer in 2018, while Hamon joined VG in 2019 as a senior trust officer.

ThomasLloyd

The investment firm has named Alan Burnett and Julia Pomer to two newly created senior wholesale distribution roles.

Burnett has been appointed as director of wholesale clients UK and Ireland.

He joins ThomasLloyd from Manulife Asset Management, where he was the managing director and head of wholesale assets and clients relationships for UK and Ireland.

Pomer has been appointed as director of wholesale clients Germany and Austria.

She joins from Lazard Asset Management, where she held a variety of senior roles for the past seven years including vice president and sales manager of third party distribution for Germany and Austria.

Tellworth Investments

The firm has appointed Lawrence Brennan to work alongside Helme Harrison as a director of business development.

Brennan joins from Artemis Investment Management, where he was head of wealth managers from 2017.

Barclays Private Bank

The private bank has hired Nandu Patel as head of charities and asset consultant relationships

Patel joins Barclays from Rothschild & Co, where he spent 10 years, most recently as UK head of charities.

FE fundinfo

The global fund data and technology group has named Sebastian Brinkmann as ESG strategist.

He joins FE fundinfo from TruValue Labs, where he most recently held the position of head of ESG solutions for Europe.
