Professional financial training business Redmill Advance has bought industry learning specialist Akorn Education for an undisclosed sum.

The M&A deal will advance Redmill’s plan to grow its business and increase its training and education offering to the financial services industry.

It currently provides learning and e-learning support for Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) exams.

As part of the acquisition, Akorn founder and tutor Angelo Kornecki has become technical director at Redmill.

He is also the managing director of Akorn Financial Advice.

‘Enhanced’ proposition

Gregor Ormond, co-founder and director at Redmill Advance, said: “Akorn Education brings teaching and financial services expertise to Redmill Advance, and we’re excited to welcome Angelo and his team.

“With Angelo’s technical knowledge and approach to training, we believe that our clients will benefit from his strategic input to the business at such a time when learning-centric solutions and employee engagement are required. Akorn students will be welcomed into the business, and with complementary services we believe that Redmill clients will benefit from our enhanced blended learning proposition and services.

“With the challenges that coronavirus has brought – and continues to bring – to employers, we have worked hard over the last six months to help new and existing clients deliver seamless remote learning to their employees, as well as making sure that individual learners gaining new qualifications are maximising their study efforts.”

Kornecki added: “Redmill Advance have a solid reputation in the industry so when they approached us it was an easy decision to make.

“We share the same vision and values for how financial services training should be delivered, and it is an honour to be able to bring our expertise to provide financial services education and training to everyone, in a way that best suits their needs.

“It really is exciting times and together, I hope we can help as many students as possible gain the skills and knowledge they require for career progression.”
