Quilter
The financial services firm has outlined the leadership structure of its national advice business, which comprises Quilter Financial Advisers (QFA) and Quilter Private Client Advisers (QPCA).
QFA; which includes the former Charles Derby business and Lighthouse Financial Advice, as well as Lighthouse Mortgage and Protection, will be focused on middle income households.
Chris Fautley, former chief executive of Charles Derby is the head of QFA, supported by Amanda Cassidy as deputy head.
Quilter Private Client Advisers will focus on serving the wealthier UK investor.
Andy Moore, previously national financial planning director for the business will become head of QPCA.
Part of QPCA will be a specialist advice division, which will focus on developing new markets where clients have specialist needs.
This will be run by sales director Trevor King.
Charles Derby had a specialist dental and medical team, which will move across to QPCA and be the foundation of this specialist advice division.
There will also be central functions that run across QFA and QPCA.
Business development will be led by Lee Barnard, who takes on the role of business development director, while Sarah Waring will be client and proposition director.
Quilter Cheviot
The investment management firm has hired four investment managers.
Vanessa Eve joined the newly formed Yorkshire-based team in January. She worked for Sanlam Private Wealth from 2012 and was also at Charles Stanley.
In March, the former head of Brown Shipley’s Edinburgh office, Paul Embleton, joined Quilter Cheviot.
Also, Poppy Fox and Jonathan Fletcher have joined Quilter Cheviot’s London team having worked for Brooks Macdonald for 13 years.
They will work closely with both financial advisers and direct clients.
Allianz Partners
The insurance firm has named Vinay Surana as regional chief executive of Asia Pacific.
Based in Singapore, Surana will lead the Asia-Pacific business with responsibility for Australasia, China, Japan, India and southeast Asia.
Prior to joining Allianz, Surana held the position of senior vice president and head of individual personal insurance for Asia Pacific at AIG.
Alliance Bernstein
The investment management firm has promoted Giovanni de Mare to head of Italy with responsibility for its retail and institutional strategy for the country.
Additionally, Elisa Bruscagin has joined Alliance Bernstein (AB) as a retail sales adviser based in Milan.
De Mare joined AB in 2018 as director of financial intermediaries.
Bruscagin joins with over five years industry experience, most recently at Raiffeisen Capital Management as client relationship and support manager.
Vontobel Wealth Management
The wealth firm has hired Alain Bouvrot and Matthias Eichenberger to join to its advisory team in Basel.
They will join on 1 August 2020 from UBS Wealth Management, where they were both senior relationship managers.
Mirabaud Wealth Management
The financial services firm has appointed Reto Hunziker to lead Mirabaud Advisory (Uruguay), an investment consulting business serving local clients.
He will be supported in his role by Sandra Kunze, who will also be joining the group.
Hunziker has over 30 years’ experience working for Swiss institutions in the Uruguayan, Argentinian and Brazilian banking and finance sectors.
He was previously a manager at Julius Baer bank in Uruguay.
Kunze has over 15 years of banking experience.
DWS
The asset management arm of Deutsche Bank has named Bjoern Jesch as global head of multi-asset and solutions.
He joins the firm from Credit Suisse, where he was global head of investment management within the international wealth management division.
Bjoern will succeed Christian Hille, who has decided to leave DWS for personal reasons after 13 years with the firm.
Fairway Group
The Channel Islands firm has promoted two members of its pension team to bolster its international savings product offering.
Tricia Love has become pensions manager, while Nicole Stower is promoted to senior pensions manager.
Love was previously a pensions administrator and Stower was pensions manager.
Sanne
The private client service provider has promoted Jason Bingham to strategy officer and hired Daryn Kerr as global head of technology change.
Bingham had previously held the post of managing director of product development.
He has been with Sanne since 2012.
Kerr has joined from Standard Life Aberdeen, where he held the role of head of infrastructure and platform services.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme
The UK lifeboat service has restructured parts of its organisation to bring together closely related business activities.
The main changes include:
- The merging of its communications and marketing teams, comprising public relations, stakeholder relations and public affairs, regulatory policy, international liaison and research, and marketing;
- Lila Pleban, formerly head of digital and marketing, has been appointed interim chief communications and marketing officer;
- The creation of a chief counsel team, comprising legal and recoveries, company secretariat, and quality assurance;
- James Darbyshire, formerly general counsel, has been appointed interim chief counsel.
The restructuring will see Alex Kuczynski leave his role as chief corporate affairs officer.
He was FSCS’s longest-serving senior executive with 20 years at the service.
Chartered Insurance Institute
The professional body has decided to extend the term of the current serving president and chair of the board as it has been forced to delay its annual AGM due to the global pandemic.
Nick Turner, sales and agency director at NFU mutual was appointed as president in 2019.
The CII appoints a president and chair of the board annually at the AGM which usually takes place in the summer, but due to the conditions caused, the 2020 AGM has had to be postponed to the Autumn.
Shoosmiths
The UK law firm has expanded its wealth protection team with the appointment of Stephen Patch.
Patch was the former head of the private client team at law firm Woodfines, as well as previously heading up the tax, trusts & estates Cambridge team at international law firm Taylor Vinters.
