US in the news: Evercore Wealth Management makes CEO change

A round-up of the latest people moves and M&A deals in North America

Evercore

Chris Zander will succeed Jeff Maurer as chief executive of Evercore Wealth Management and Evercore Trust Company.

Zander joined Evercore WM in 2008 as a founding partner from US Trust.

He was named president of Evercore TC in 2017 and president of Evercore WM in 2019.

Maurer, who has led Evercore WM since its inception in 2008, will remain as chairman of it and Evercore TC.

He will be based in Palm Beach, Florida.

Raymond James

The Canadian arm of Raymond James has made several changes to its wealth management leadership team.

Mario Addeo, formerly executive vice president and head of private client solutions, has been appointed vice chair of the private client group.

Richard Rousseau, formerly executive vice president and head of wealth management, has been promoted to vice chair of the private client group in Quebec.

The group’s US broker/dealer arm, Raymond James & Associates (RJA), has hired financial advisers Todd Hamilton and Robert Thompson.

They join from Wells Fargo Advisors, where they previously managed $330m (£252m, €297m) in client assets.

Both will be based in the Chicago office managed by Mike Townsend, and are joined by senior registered client service associate Alexis Newman.

The team will operate as Hamilton Thompson Wealth Management of Raymond James.

RBC Wealth Management–US

Roger Stephens and Daniel Rothenberg have joined the firm from UBS to run its newest Los Angeles office.

Stephens, managing director and financial adviser, has 28 years of industry experience.

Rothenberg, managing director and financial adviser, has 13 years of experience.

The rest of their team is made up of senior business associate Michelle Hadi, senior financial associate Grace Kim, senior registered client associate Robin Kim, and investment associate Akiva Glazerson.

They manage approximately $7.5bn in assets.

B Riley Wealth Management

The subsidiary of B Riley Financial has named Paul Dietrich as chief investment strategist.

Dietrich joins from Fairfax Global Markets, where he served as chief executive and chief investment officer.

Conte Wealth Advisors

Brian Lauer and Patrick Barry have joined the firm to open an office in York, Pennsylvania.

They have brought their support staff with them.

The York office is the seventh CWA operation in the US.

It was not specified where they worked previously.

M&A

Mercer Global Advisors

The US registered investment adviser (RIA) has acquired Adam Financial Associates, a wealth management firm located in Boca Raton, Florida.

Mari Adam, founder and president of AFA and her three-member team will join Mercer Advisors.

The addition of AFA expands Mercer Advisors’ presence in Florida to three offices (Clearwater, Palm Beach Gardens, and Boca Raton).

The acquisition brings Mercer Advisors’ total offices to 46 and increases total assets under management to nearly $17.5bn.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Creative Planning

The RIA firm has agreed to buy Wisconsin-based Hogan Financial Management.

It provides comprehensive financial planning and investment management for clients with approximately $300m in AuM.
