PEOPLE MOVES: St James’s Place, LGIM, Deutsche Bank WM

Senior departure at SJP, while Legal & General Investment Management recruits from M&G

St James’s Place

Jonathan McMahon stepped down as joint chief operating office of St James’s Place at the end of September after six years with the firm.

Over the coming months, however, he will continue to support the integration of Dublin-based financial advice firm Harvest Financial Services as chairman, which SJP acquired in February.

Legal & General Investment Management

Margaret Ammon has been named chief risk officer at LGIM, subject to regulatory approvals.

She currently holds the same role for the asset management division of M&G and will move across to LGIM in February 2020 to assume responsibility for the oversight and development of its risk functions, globally.

Ammon; who previously worked for First State Global Asset Management, Schroders and Old Mutual Asset Management, will report to LGIM chief executive Michelle Scrimgeour.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management

Rajesh Mahadevan has been promoted to head of global products & solutions (GPS) for Emerging Markets, as Deutsche Bank WM extends its product capabilities for clients in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Mahadevan will take up the role in January and be based in Singapore. He is currently global south Asia (GSA) group head of Middle East for Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, based in Dubai, where he has focused on sustainably growing the region.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, he ran investments and sales for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Middle East, and was head of investment products at Citigroup.

Generali Switzerland

Ralph Schmid is to become head of Life & Pension at Generali Switzerland, effective from 1 January 2020, following a management restructure. His appointment is subject to regulatory approval.

He succeeds Bernhard Locher who is retiring after 10 years with the Italian insurer.

Prescient Investment Management

The global investment manager has hired Gaurav Maleri as president, global sales.

Based in London, he will focus on promoting the Prescient China’s range of Irish Ucits funds, which seek long-term growth from Chinese markets across equities, fixed income and asset allocation strategies.

Maleri joins from UTI International where he was a senior vice president, responsible for business development and marketing in Europe. Prior to that he was chief executive of Reliance Capital Management’s UK business.

JM Finn

Two investment managers from Rathbones have agreed to join the firm, subject to regulatory and contractual approval.

Stephen Wright, who has been looking after clients’ investment portfolios at Rathbones for more than 30 years, will move to JM Finn, as has his colleague Steve Thornton, who has been at Rathbones for 27 years.

This comes after Marcus Holden-Craufurd also joined JM Finn from Rathbones.

Equilibrium Asset Management

The asset manager has made a quartet of hires for its team based in Cheshire.

The company welcomed Joe Smith as an investment analyst and Erika Barbosa in the newly created role of data analyst.

Smith joins from advice firm PPTC, where he was business development nanager. Barbosa previously worked at Balfour Beatty, where she worked as an MI Analyst.

Furthermore, Matt Barker from Greystone, and William Morgan from multinational giant UBS Private Banking, have joined the team as client managers.

Crestbridge

The global administration, management and corporate governance solutions business has appointed Michael Johnson as group head of fund services.

He replaces Michael Newton, who has taken on the newly created role of head of client delivery.

He will be responsible for growing and evolving Crestbridge’s overall funds proposition, supporting managers operating across asset classes and helping them navigate the regulatory environments in multiple jurisdictions.

Johnson joins from Intertrust, where he was head of fund services in the Channel Islands.

Sanne

The global alternative asset and corporate business services provider has named Wendy Cheng as country head – Hong Kong, and Chris Warnes as country head – UK.

Cheng will strengthen and enhance the firm’s existing business relationships and promote the brand across the Apac region. She will play a key role in shaping the direction of Sanne’s Hong Kong business.

Based in London, Warnes will take over from Jason Bingham, who has been promoted to managing director.

Mediolanum International Funds

Elizabeth Geoghegan has been appointed fixed income portfolio manager at Irish asset manager Mediolanum (MIFL).

Based in the Dublin office, she will work closely with Charles Diebel, who is head of fixed income.

She joins from locally-based boutique Goodbody Asset Management, where she spent four years as fixed income fund manager building the firm’s fixed income and asset allocation investment frameworks.

IQ-EQ

Tedrick Green has been appointed client director at investor services group IQ-EQ, based in the Cayman Islands.

Working alongside country delivery director Selma Lee Arch, his appointed is in response to demand for regional expertise and strengthen the senior management team on the ground, the firm said.
