The firm has appointed Matthew Spencer as head of intermediaries.
He replaces Craig Wright, head of UK IFA, who is returning home to Australia in the new year.
Spencer joins with close to 40-years of experience in the wealth management industry.
Roles he has held over the past decade include head of business development and marketing at Close Brothers Asset Management, head of intermediaries at Deutsche Bank and head of business development at Coutts & Co.
Ascot Lloyd
The company has appointed Mary O’Connor as non-executive director to its group board.
Throughout a 30-year career, she has led and advised a wide range of public and private-equity backed businesses, having also served in executive roles at professional services firms and the Financial Conduct Authority.
A lawyer by background, O’Connor’s most recent leadership role was as the divisional CEO for Capital Advisory and Placement at Howden Broking Group. Prior to this, O’Connor served as the acting CEO for KPMG UK, responsible for driving the strategic development of the firm.
GAM
The firm has appointed Steven Williams as head of UK and Channel Islands distribution, following near six years at Amundi Asset Management as senior sales manager.
Before Amundi, Williams was with Alquity Investment Management, where he built out its UK sales division. At GAM, Williams will report to Rossen Djounov, global head of client solutions. He will lead introductions of GAM products to new clients as well as maintaining the company’s existing relationships.
Aviva
Former Aviva Global Equity Income fund manager Richard Saldanha returned to Aviva yesterday after leaving the firm with three colleagues in August to join Royal London Asset Management (RLAM).
He and fellow global equities managers Francois de Bruin and Matt Kirby announced their departure to “pursue other opportunities in the market” in August, resurfacing in November at RLAM where they had been appointed to its £613m Global Equity Select fund.
Less than a month following the announcement, he will return to Aviva to resume management of the £688m Aviva Global Equity Income fund, which he had led since 2013.
Gravis
The firm has hired James Peel as a senior research analyst, to support the firm’s VT Gravis UK Listed Property (PAIF), VT Gravis Digital Infrastructure Income, VT Gravis UK Infrastructure Income and VT Gravis Clean Energy Income funds.
Peel joins from Titan Asset Management, where he started as an analyst in 2019, before being promoted to portfolio manager in 2020. During his time here, he designed Titan’s multi-asset class approach to sustainable investing and chaired Titan’s sustainability committee.
Prior to this, Peel worked at the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei as a researcher, where he focused on the continued decarbonisation of Taiwan.
