Kate Morrissey joins as head of asset allocation

The firm has hired HSBC Asset Management’s Kate Morrissey as its head of asset allocation, a new position for the firm.

Morrissey who will lead the group in managing £62.7bn of assets, previously spent 23 years at HSBC, having joined the firm on its graduate programme in 2000. Most recently, she worked within the company’s asset management division as its head of World Selection and Global Strategy fund ranges.

Morrissey will head up Evelyn Partners’ macroeconomic and quantitative strategy teams, leading them to recommend asset allocation choices to the firm’s tactical asset allocation group. She will report to chief investment officer Edward Park.

Abrdn

Russell Barlow is set to leave abrdn after 26 years at the company for a role at a “non-competing” firm, while Darren Wolf is appointed to his previous role as global head of multi asset & alternative investments.

Wolf has been with abrdn for near nine years, and was previously with Arden Asset Management and Robeco-Sage Asset Management as director of research. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Artemis

The firms has bolstered its global equity team with the hire of Yin Loke as an investment analyst.

Yin spent a decade with Pioneer Investment Management as a senior analyst of Asian equities, covering consumer and financials.

She initially joined the firm on a six-month “returnship” through the Diversity Project’s Returner programme, which aims to assist professionals in returning to work following a career break.

HSBC Asset Management

The company has appointed Pete Scott to the role of head of innovation credit, where he will lead HSBC’s new venture debt offering.

The new strategy will work in partnership with HSBC Innovation Banking, with asset selection done by HSBC AM. It will invest in senior secured loans to growth and late-stage VC-backed tech and life science companies.

Liontrust Asset Management

The firm has appointed Clare Pleydell-Bouverie as co-lead fund manager of the global innovation team.

Pleydell-Bouverie has been with Liontrust since 2019, beginning as assistant fund manager, and joined the global innovation team in 2022. She previously spent a year at Neptune Investment Management, and two at Third Bridge Group Limited.
