A familiar face returns to the Isle of Man-based DFM to become head of private wealth

Creechurch Capital

The Isle of Man-based discretionary fund management (DFM) firm has named Miles Ashworth as its head of private wealth.

Ashworth is no stranger to Creechurch having previously worked for the business for six years, most recently as a senior portfolio manager, until his departure in 2017.

Prior to rejoining the firm, Ashworth worked as a consultant.

Janus Henderson Investors

Suzanne Cain has joined the asset manager as global head of distribution, based in Denver, Colorado.

She will be responsible for the firm’s global sales and product strategy for both institutional and retail operations.

Also, she will oversee global marketing and lead client service across the firm’s global business.

Cain has over 30 years’ extensive global industry experience.

She was most recently at Blackrock, where she served as US and global head of institutional clients of iShares, the provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Investec Wealth & Investment (IW&I)

The firm has bolstered its Exeter team with the appointment of Richard Wright as financial planning director.

In this role, Wright will lead IW&I’s financial planning offering in the Exeter office.

He will report to Chris Aitken, the firm’s UK head of financial planning.

Wright joins IW&I from accountancy firm PKF Francis Clark, where he managed the financial planning team based at its Plymouth office.

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM)

The asset manager has named three members to the board of its Irish management company, LGIM Managers (Europe).

The following have been elected to the board of directors:

  • Lee Toms (non-executive director and LGIM’s global head of investment operations);
  • Volker Kurr (executive director, head of German branch and head of European institutional distribution); and
  • John Craven (executive director and LGIM Europe’s head of finance).

The board now has seven members.

Pimco

The California-based investment manager has hired Dr Richard Thaler as senior adviser on retirement and behavioural economics.

Thaler is an economist and professor of Behavioral Science and Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

He is also a co-founder and partner at Fuller & Thaler Asset Management, which uses behavioural finance to manage portfolios of small-cap US equities.

Ogier

Daniel Maine has joined the law firm’s dispute resolution team as a senior associate in Jersey.

Maine was previously a technical legal specialist at UK regulator the Financial Conduct Authority, where he was part of the enforcement division.

In his nine years at the financial watchdog, he worked on a broad range of contentious regulatory matters; including applications for regulatory approval by firms and individuals, the use of supervisory tools, and cases involving disciplinary sanctions and prohibition orders.
