PEOPLE MOVES: Schroders, Old Mutual, Royal London

Schroders has appointed a head of investment trusts for its UK intermediary business, while three non-executive directors at Old Mutual Wealth are to step down. Royal London Asset Management has added four to its global high yield team.

Schroders

John Spedding has been named head of investment trusts within Schroders UK intermediary business.

He will be responsible for the overall strategy of the investment trust business, the oversight of its relationships with shareholders, clients and other key stakeholders, and the development of new opportunities.

Spedding has over 26 years’ experience, having worked in several roles across Schroders over the past 20 years, including company secretary and client director. Most recently he held the role of head of asset management secretariat.

Old Mutual Wealth

Following three years of business transformation, non-executive directors Simon Davies, Jane Hanson and Andy Pomfret have decided to step down from the Old Mutual Wealth board in October 2016.

Davies joined the board in September 2013. He chairs OMW’s remuneration committee and sits on the board risk and audit committees. He was previously the chief executive of Threadneedle Asset Management from 1999 to 2007.  

Hanson also joined the board in September 2013 and chairs the board risk committee. She has her own financial sector consulting business and is also a magistrate.

Pomfret joined the board in September 2014 and chairs the audit committee of OWM and sits on the board risk and remuneration committees. His previous roles include chief executive at Rathbone Brothers and finance director at Kleinwort Benson.

Royal London Asset Management

Ahead of the launch of a multi-asset credit fund, RLAM has expanded its global high yield team with the appointment of a new fund manager, senior credit analyst, and two assistant credit analysts.

Khuram Sharih joins as fund manager, focusing on leveraged loans and alternative credit, from Newton Investment Management where he worked with their fixed income and global multi-asset teams. He was previously a senior credit analyst at Cairn Capital and held roles at Denali Capital and JP Morgan in the US.

Sebastien Poulin joins as a senior credit analyst with a remit split between high yield and leveraged loans. Poulin joins from Principal Global Investors where he covered both high yield and leveraged loans. His previous roles were at Newton Investment Management, Standard & Poor’s and BNP Paribas.

Gary Ewen and Tom Elliott will also be joining to bolster RLAM’s multi-asset credit capabilities. Ewen was an investment analyst at Mercer and Elliot was a high yield credit analyst at Debtwire.

Vantage

Jersey-based Vantage has strengthened its pensions and retirement planning team with the appointment of Chris Hall as director. He previously worked at Lloyds Bank and Scottish Widows, bringing with him broad financial services market experience.

A chartered financial planner and an associate member of the Personal Finance Society, Hall will be responsible for running the pension company, Vantage Pension Trustees.

Securities and Exchange Commission

The US SEC has named Kristin Snyder co-national associate director of the office of compliance inspections and examinations’ (OCIE) investment adviser/investment company examination programme.

Snyder, along with her co-director Jane Jarcho, will oversee more than 520 lawyers, accountants, and examiners responsible for inspecting SEC registered investment advisers and investment companies.
