With International Women’s Day approaching, expat community InterNations asked women working abroad what are the best countries for female expatriates.

With nearly 9,000 respondents to the community’s survey, Czech Republic had the highest satisfaction scores with, on average, 77% of women who have moved there being happy with career prospects, work-life balance and job security.

Following suit down the top 10 list are: Bahrain, Taiwan, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Malta and Australia.

On the other hand, Gulf states have ranked as the countries female expats are the least happy with. Kuwait ranked as the least desirable place to move to for women; with Russia placing second to last and Saudi Arabia placing third to last.

Among the women who responded to the survey, 56% are in a committed relationship, 63% don’t have children and 765 are satisfied with their life abroad.

Additionally, 89% have a university degree.

The results were part of InterNations’ Expat Insider survey.
